Visitors GuideSat navs at the ready... Southport Football Club, Haig Avenue, PR8 6JZ GETTING TO THE GROUND By car: Southport can be reached by taking the M6 to junction 26 and exiting onto the M58. At junction 3, exit and turn right at the roundabout (3rd exit), then left (1st exit) at the next roundabout. Go through the lights at Stanley Gate Inn and follow the road past Edge Hill College into Ormskirk. Follow signs for Southport A570 to navigate through Ormskirk town centre. Follow the A570 until you reach the large roundabout and Retail Park at the edge of Southport. Tesco's will be on your left, take the third exit off the roundabout - be aware that this roundabout is a bit of a nightmare to enter and exit! Follow the road to the first set of traffic lights and turn right. You are now on Haig Avenue. Via train: Southport Station can be accessed by train on either the Northern Line from Liverpool, or from Manchester/Wigan. If arriving via Liverpool Lime Street you will need to walk to, or get the underground link, to the Northern Line Central Station. taxis are fairly plentiful in the town centre. Exit the station by the side entrance to the right, and there is taxi rank right there. The fare will be around £5 On foot from station: After arriving at Southport, exit via the front entrance (opposite Woolworth's) onto Chapel Street. Go left, past Tulketh Street to a main junction with Eastbank Street. Turn left and follow Eastbank Street, eventually going over a bridge to a roundabout. Cross over the roundabout (2nd exit) with the Waitrose petrol station on your left, and continue up Sacrisbrick New Road past a set of traffic lights. At the second set of light, turn left into Haig Avenue. Parking around the ground: Southport FC does not have any parking spaces at the ground, so on match day fans park in the roads around the ground. The limited spaces on Haig Avenue itself rapidly fill up, and there are single/double yellow lines and cones on match days so beware of these. Haig Avenue is in a residential area, so we would ask that you please treat our neighbours with respect Haig Avenue is segregated, the away fans end (known as the Blowick End) is on the left as you face the ground. The ground has the Grandstand Club which welcomes away fans and serves drinks before and after the match. It also has a large screen television. Inside the ground there are stalls selling tea, coffee, pie meals and hot dogs. Next to the ground on the left is a sweet shop If you are arriving by train, or taking a trip into the town centre, Southport is a seaside resort so there are many cafes, pubs, shops and restaurants. The famous Lord Street is a long boulevard type avenue with covered walkways for shop window browsing.
