Once again this season, Trust in Yellow will be running the popular Player of the Month award.

Every month throughout the season, fans are asked to nominate their star performer from the Southport team and one supporter will be selected to make the presentation to the winning player.

And with the first month of the new season now complete, the voting for August's Player of the Month is open.

Although it took until the end of the month for Southport to record their first win of the season, they did so with an impressive performance against Altrincham, with Gary Jones, Liam Nolan and Connor McCarthy on target.

Louis Almond scored the Sandgrounders’ first goal of the season against Gateshead with a fine individual strike and has shown impressive form, as has Matt Challoner in defence.

Voting is open until 3pm on Saturday, September 5, and the presentation will be made ahead of the match against Tranmere Rovers on September 15.

Since the award was introduced, the club's junior supporters have taken real delight in making the presentation to the winning player.

You can nominate yourself, your child or any other friend or family member to present the award by contacting the Trust in the same ways you can vote above.

The Player of the Month award is one of several initiatives run by the Trust to promote greater supporter-involvement and strengthen the link between fans and players.

Thanks to all supporters who supported our coach travel in August, we hope that September will be a more fruitful month points wise! Our first trip of the month sees us head to Forest Green with prices at £19 for members, £24 for non members and £14 for junior members.

Our next event is a Quiz Night on Saturday 5th September following the Dover game.

It is designed to be a fun quiz, with rounds on general knowledge, music, TV and film, sport and, of course, Southport FC.

There will be prizes for the winners and the event is expected to last around two hours. Teams can be entered at the event, but to help with arrangements the Trust would like as many teams as possible to register beforehand, so please e-mail fans@trustinyellow.com or visit the Trust office with your team and player details. Any number of players are allowed in each team up to a maximum of six and entry is £1 per person.

There will be a players team so this is your chance to show that you're smarter than a bunch of footballers!

The quiz will take place in the Grandstand Bar starting at 5.30pm and we look forward to seeing you there.

On Saturday August 29th Southport travel to Barrow and you can save the hassle of driving in the Bank Holiday traffic by booking on the TIY coach.

Prices are just £14 for members, £19 for non-members and £12 for juniors and you can book by calling or texting Colin on 07861 416859.

The coach will pick up at The Arion at 11.10am, and then at The Crown & The George before departing the Merseyrail Community Stadium at 11.30am.

Unfortunately the coach to Braintree will not be running due to a potential loss of £400.
