TRUST STATEMENT ON FLOODLIGHTS

After the club AGM last Thursday evening (30th July), representatives from the Trust board met with Charlie Clapham and Haydn Preece.

The main discussion was obviously about the new floodlights. As has been announced already, the lights are being installed at the moment and should be working in time for the Tranmere home game on Tuesday, 15th September. The company that the lights are being purchased from is Surfacelux which is a well known company, very experienced with floodlight systems and based on the Wirral. The design of the system enables the lights to be lowered for maintenance thus avoiding the hire of expensive equipment for the purpose.

The final cost of the lights was discussed and will be announced later but falls well within the parameters of the cost given to the Trust in the original quotes some years ago. The grant from the Football Stadia Improvement fund has been applied for. On completion of the installation the Trust will be given a copy of the invoice the club has received from Surfacelux and the Trust will send 25% of that cost to the club to purchase shares as agreed previously.

There is a possibility that the Trust AGM in September may be delayed a couple of weeks until after the Tranmere match so that it might include a working demonstration of the lights for members . Details of that will follow.

The meeting briefly discussed other matters. The club outlined other possible future developments including a shared community scheme for a sports hub including artificial pitch at King George V College.

In other areas TIY and club may look into grants which can be applied for jointly and also both are interested in improving facilities for disabled supporters. However, the Trust board will consult fully with members to find out what their priorities and wishes are for future cooperation with the club. The Trust is obviously very pleased that after such a long delay the new lights will soon be in operation
